The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Set Decoration

This past weekend on Amazon you were able to stream the recent Golden Globe Award Winning  Television Show,  The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.  Since it snowed all weekend and it was cold as… ice…  I decided to do a respectable binge session and see what all the hype was about.

Let me tell you what all the hype should be about… the SET DECORATION (acting and storyline were amazing too).  But the set decoration was… incredible.  Every Vintage Lovers dream.  From pink Pyrex dishes to Dorthey Draper consoles, it was Mid-Century perfection.  I wanted to transport back to 1959 immediately to live in Midge Maisel’s beautiful Upper West Side digs.  I wanted to drink coffee from Jadeite mugs and sip Champagne from crystal coupes all while resting my head on chintz and moray fabric pillows!   It was all so retro chic.   Then I thought about it, and really… Midge’s pad is pretty on trend for being from the 1950’s.  Let’s take a peek at the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’s Apartment…

Here we enter into the foyer.  Check out the footed pier console with the large horse statue.  And that beautiful statement making Chinoiserie pink rug.  Loving the blue paint and pink floral wallpaper along with the Asian Figure Lamp.  I found an amazing Chinese “Chou” Symbol replica rug from the UK (the British always have what I’m looking for).  The rest of the items are from Chairish and the wallpaper is from Wayfair (and affordable to boot!).

In the Dining Room we see an amazing Shell Console table with a classic urn shaped lamp and an eye catching horse plate.   As we peek into the Living Room the beautiful Asian silk screen stands out.   Leave it to Chairish to have a very similar Shell Console that just posted.  I have a feeling it will not be around long!

The scene I lingered on the longest pause session was Midge’s vanity. The Milk Glass Lamps and the French Opaline Trinket Boxes are always on my must-have list.  I’m always on the lookout for these items.  I was thrilled to see them front and center in this scene.  What you might not realize is that large pink opaline box below would set you back anywhere from $800-$2,000.

Pretty feminine vanities never go out of style and are functional!   You can splurge on some real opaline trinket boxes, or just decide to get some more afforable (but just as a effective) crystal trinket boxes.  Either way, it will make you feel special… and that is just priceless!  Until next time – GG
