Tobacco Leaf China

The Tobacco Leaf China pattern is one that has been showcased more these days. Of course, it only makes sense, the pattern was born in the 18th century and just seems to get more popular as it ages. A testament to the design.  It is no wonder this pattern tops the lists of many as an all time favorite, must-have.  The above table setting via Biscuit Home is actually showcasing tin plates!  At only $12 per plate I love this idea of getting the look for less.  Pairing it with a gingham table cloth gives the perfect summer vibe.

I was always under the impression that Mottahedeh was the genius designer behind the beautiful Tobacco Leaf China pattern. However, like most things I find simply amazing, the pattern existed far before Mottahedeh and others decided to bring it to the mass market. You know it has reached major popularity when you can actually purchase Mottahedeh via William-Sonoma.

What makes the Tobacco Leaf China pattern so special? Most notably the fact that it is decorated with over 27 colors and accented with gold. You are hard pressed to find such an embellished pattern in which every time you look at it you see something new.

Very often you will see the Tobacco Leaf paired with the Anna Weatherley Charger Plate

Dress down the beautiful Tobacco Leaf China pattern with some earthy basketwave placemats like Designer Caitlin Moran.  What a perfect summer place setting.

While I love the Mottahedeh reproduction, it is a hefty price tag to build up a set.  There is another version by Imperial which is much more cost effective for the same look…  You might have to build up your set over time, but you will have one pretty quickly given the inventory found here
